Having carried out some initial research into existing products and information surrounding my chosen brief, it is important for me to develop a specification. This will ensure I design and produce a product that meets the requirements necessary.

- the casing should provide protection for the electronics of the USB
- the product should advertise the launch of a new web-based streaming site associated with iTunes
- it should have some form of logo or information to show what it is advertising and some link to the Apple company in its shape
- it is important the product is aesthetically pleasing to attract attention
- the casing should be finished to a high standard using CAD/CAM processes - more than one process should be considered
- the product should be a reasonable size to ensure it is practical, use-able and cheap to produce
- it should be produced from more than one material
- the size and the materials should be considered in terms of weight to ensure the USB is lightweight
By ensuring my design fits this criteria, I should produce a use-able and practical product which fulfils its purpose.
