Packaging Production

Using the packaging design I have developed and produced a final idea.

I have taken the iTunes and Apple logo's to use on the packaging to promote the product. Using cardboard and the laser cutter i have tried different ideas. Below shows the logos etched and cut out. Both produce interesting effects that i can incorporate into the designs.

I produced an initial net for the box on Corel draw. I have put the iTunes logo along the top, which will be cut out so the product is slightly visible through it.

This shows the laser cut net. The folded edges are all etched, making it easier to assemble the box. This first attempt shows that the sizing of the box is right, as well as showing me that the aesthetic features will work well.

After producing this I added writing to the side walls to promote the iTunes Streaming, as well as changing the direction the Apple logo was facing to make it right for the top of the box. I also decided to take the Apple logo off the inside of the box as it wouldn't be seen.

After putting these together i found that the bottom box needed to be slightly smaller so the top could slot over it. I simply changed the sizing in Corel and produced the bottom again.

I also needed to figure out a way to keep the USB in place and decided to laser cut layers of thick cardboard to fit inside the bottom box. The top layers will have a extruded centre where the USB will fit.

I have laser cut 5 of the full rectangles and 7 of the cut out rectangle. This will allow the USB to sit above the bottom of the box and be kept in place.
